• What's the best time to visit Beijing?

  Beijing has four distinct seasons. Spring (March - May) and autumn (September - November) are usually considered the best times. The weather is pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold, and you can enjoy beautiful natural scenery. However, spring can be a bit windy at times.

• How many days are recommended for a trip to Beijing?

  It depends on your interests. If you want to visit the major historical and cultural sites like the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the Summer Palace, 4 - 5 days are enough. But if you also plan to explore some outlying areas or have a more in-depth experience, 7 days or more would be better.

• What languages are commonly spoken in Beijing?

  Mandarin is the main language in mainland China. However, in tourist areas, many people, especially those working in the tourism industry like hotel staff , can speak simply English to assist visitors. More and more young people are well-educated now. You can try to ask for help in English from them.

• How to get around in Beijing?

  Subway: Beijing has an extensive subway network that can take you to most of the main attractions. It's convenient, fast, and relatively inexpensive. You can buy tickets at the vending machines in the subway stations or use a transportation card.

   

  Bus: Buses are also available, but they might be a bit slower due to traffic. Some buses are double-decker ones which offer nice views. You can pay by cash or use the transportation card as well.

   

  Taxi and Didi (ride-hailing app): Taxis are easy to hail on the street, and Didi is widely used. Make sure you have the destination written in Chinese or can communicate it clearly to the driver.

   

  Bicycle-sharing: There are many shared bicycles like Mobike and Hello Bike on the streets. It's a great way to explore short distances and enjoy the city views at a slower pace.

• How to get to Beijing from the airport?

  From Beijing Capital International Airport: You can take the airport express train which connects to the subway system, airport shuttle buses that go to different parts of the city, or take a taxi.

   

  From Beijing Daxing International Airport: There's the Daxing Airport Express subway line, airport shuttle buses, and taxis available. The subway is usually a cost-effective option.

• Where are the good places to go shopping in Beijing?

  Wangfujing Street: A famous shopping street with numerous department stores, luxury brands, and local specialty shops.

   

  Xidan: Popular among young people, with a mix of fashion boutiques, electronics stores, and restaurants.

   

  Silk Street Market: You can bargain for silk products, clothing, and handicrafts.

• Is Beijing safe for tourists?

  Yes, Beijing is generally a very safe city. The crime rate is low, and there are police patrols in many public areas. However, like in any city, it's still advisable to take normal precautions such as keeping an eye on your belongings in crowded places. It is not recommended to go outside at late night alone.
